This hand painted needlepoint canvas by Rittenhouse Needlepoint features one of the famous South Philly burn barrel. Since the creation of South Philly’s outdoor Italian Market in the 1880s vendors have used burning barrels to keep business booming in the winter. The image has come to symbolize South Philly in part due to several burn barrels on the streets of the movie “Rocky”.
